9th Management Board (MB) meeting of the EU Joint Programme on neurodegenerative diseases

On April 24-25, 2014, the historical building of the Slovak National Council hosted a regular meeting of the Management Board of JPND. The fight against neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Alzheimer's disease, is the pilot initiative for new forms of cooperation of the EU Member States under the name "The EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research" (JPND). JPND aims to increase coordinated investment between participating countries in research aimed at finding causes, developing cures, and identifying appropriate ways to care for those with neurodegenerative diseases.
Prof. DVM. Michal Novak DSc, the director of the Institute of Neuroimmunology, and Lubica Pitlová, a representative of The Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, are administrative Board members of JPND for SR. Programming initiative (Partnership) currently comprises 23 countries. From 16 countries attended 26 representatives.
